Learning more about Pictou County

We are located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” signed in this Territory and recognize that we are all Treaty People, honouring the enduring relationship and shared responsibilities between the Mi’kmaq peoples and all who now inhabit this land. We also recognize and honour the lasting impact of African Nova Scotians, who have greatly influenced Nova Scotia for more than 400 years with their deep-rooted culture, heritage, and history.
