About

Local Roots, Professional Experience, and a Commitment to Precision

Every project at Ready Works and Development is built on a foundation of experience and a deep respect for our local community.

Based in New Glasgow, we are a family-owned and operated business dedicated to providing Nova Scotia homeowners and contractors with high-quality, professional excavation services.

The Story Behind Ready Works

Ready Works and Development was founded by Chris Kemp, a seasoned heavy equipment operator with years of experience working in some of the most demanding industrial environments in the North. After years of operating large-scale machinery on complex projects, Chris returned home to New Glasgow with a clear mission: to bring that same level of industrial-grade precision and technical skill to residential projects in Pictou County.

Having spent a career mastering the nuances of earthworks and site preparation, Chris recognized a need for an excavation partner who understands that residential projects require a different touch. It's not just about moving dirt; it's about accuracy, safety, and protecting the property where people live and raise their families.

A Family Business Built on Trust

We are more than just an excavation company—we are building a legacy. As a family-operated business, our reputation is on the line with every trench we dig and every site we prep. We don't just see a job site; we see our neighbors' homes and the local businesses that keep our community growing.

Our goal is to be the team you trust with your most important property upgrades. Whether we are digging a test pit for a new home or repairing a sewer line in a tight backyard, we treat your property with the same care and attention we would give our own.

Why Our Experience Matters

Transitioning from large-scale industrial work to residential excavation has given us a unique advantage. We bring a high level of technical discipline to every project, ensuring that:

Safety is Paramount

We understand the complexities of underground utilities and structural integrity.

Precision is Standard

Our experience allows us to hit exact grades and depths, making the job easier for the plumbers, electricians, and builders who follow us.

Problem-Solving is Natural

From rocky soil to unexpected drainage issues, we have the experience to handle the unique terrain of Nova Scotia.

Specialized Equipment
for Residential Spaces

One of the ways we stand out is through our choice of machinery. We utilize specialized, smaller-footprint equipment that allows us to perform high-power excavation in confined spaces. This means we can get into backyards and between buildings where larger rigs simply cannot go, all while minimizing the impact on your lawn and landscaping.

Proudly Serving New Glasgow and Beyond

We are proud to call Pictou County home and look forward to helping you with your next project. When you hire Ready Works and Development, you're not just getting an operator—you're getting a partner who is invested in the success of your project and the well-being of our community.
